POM POM PARTY HATS
One of the advantages of always having craft projects on the go, and a ridiculous amount of materials at home, is that when an idea strikes it's usually easy-ish to act upon. Take last week after we visited the Circus Factory at the Powerhouse Museum. We saw some clown hats and decided to make our own later that day. Definitely a fun project and, obviously, you can customise how you wish, and according to what you've got at your place. We happened to have a bunch of pom poms, which had been made for another project but have now been repurposed.
YOU WILL NEED
Card
Pencil
Compass
Ruler
Scissors
Tape
Craft glue
Pom poms
Skewers
Braid, trim or ribbon
Stickers, mini pom poms or other decorative elements
HOW-TO
1. Draw a circle using a compass and keep the radius setting. Use this to mark along the circumfrance three intervals. Draw these markings to the centre and cut along the lines. You now have three hat templates.
2. We had existing pom poms to use as hat toppers. We inserted the pointy end of a trimmed skewer into them and taped the other end to the hat. Once in place we taped the hat closed.
3. We used craft glue to attach braiding and pom poms.
Tip You can add ribbon or elastic if you want to hold the hats into place.
